What is Ward Based Skills Programme?
As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening the clinical competencies of future healthcare professionals, the Society for Health Research and Innovation (SHRI) has initiated the Ward-Based Clinical Skills Training Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka. This programme is specifically designed for pre-intern medical officers, providing them with the opportunity to develop and refine essential clinical skills in a real hospital ward setting under the supervision of experienced consultants.
The primary objective of this programme is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice. By engaging in hands-on training within their nearest hospital, participants are immersed in a practical learning environment that mirrors their future responsibilities as practicing doctors.
Each participant is required to maintain a logbook documenting the skills they have completed. This logbook must be authenticated with the signatures of the respective consultant trainers upon successful demonstration of each procedure.
By strengthening administrative competence and professional awareness, the SHRI Efficiency Bar Programme not only supports medical officers in successfully completing the E-Bar examination but also contributes to improved hospital administration, reduced disciplinary issues, and enhanced quality and integrity of healthcare delivery in Sri Lanka.
